STRANGE WORKERS IN JAPAN ①
My job at company is to order goods to domestic company on the telephone and FAX. A company FAXing in japan is a very commonplace things, so everyone of office worker can use it.
But to my surprise, I heard that an opportunity to FAX is gradually reduce in most of developed country. Why do we Japanese use FAX?
An opinion says, Japanese value human relations, even through every Business person and company in developed country except for japan always pursue efficiency in business of today. Unlike e-mail, FAX needs handwriting to sent message, and handwriting has human feelings. FAXing for Japanese, then, is important more than enhance efficiency in business.
In my opinion, as the reason for using FAX in japan, this opinion is lacking in persuasiveness. Because this opinion can’t say the reason that much of a Japanese manager had had to reduce your own business cost since the 1990’s bubble burst and deep economic recession in japan, then they had regarded new technology such as e-mail as a new cost.
Above all, I have never meet a business person who says FAX is important for human relations in my life.
